Lent 2007

seeking unity and building community in the name of christ

Each year we seek to build up our congregation during the season of Lent for the work of ministry and to refresh our souls so we may come to the great celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus with new eyes.

Within the past year we came together as the American Episcopal Church at General Convention to set the course for the next three years for our national church. We were a community seeking to define our place in the worldwide community we call the Anglican Communion. We broke bread together, prayed together, elected new leadership and a new presiding bishop. Some felt we were no longer a community and spoke harshly against measures that were taken.

Here at Trinity we speak of the communion of saints. We gather to receive communion.  We live in a local community struggling to seek a way out of the brokenness of our citizens who live in poverty and in the midst of violence. With all this in mind, we will turn our thoughts on Wednesday evenings this year to the subject of "communion." We will build community as we pray, break bread and learn together.
