Trinity Clergy and Parish Staff

The Rev. Tom Kryder-Reid, Rector

Tom is responsible for the overall ministry and spiritual life of Trinity Church and has served as rector (or senior pastor) since 2000. Educated at Syracuse University, the University of Chicago, and Virginia Theological Seminary, he was ordained deacon and priest in 1986 and served as assistant rector of St. Columba's Church, Washington DC and rector of St. Bartholomew's Church, Baltimore before moving to Indianapolis in 1998. Prior to his election as Trinity's rector he was a consultant for the Indianapolis Center for Congregations and priest in charge of St. Timothy's Church. Tom's wife Liz is a professor at IUPUI; their children are Emily (14), Caroline (11) and Grace (5).

The Rev. Nancy Ferriani, Senior Associate Rector
Nancy has served Trinity since her ordination to the priesthood in 1987. In addition to other priestly duties, she coordinates Trinity's adult education efforts. A graduate of the University of Kansas in sociology and psychology, Nancy earned a master of divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in 1986. She has served as the Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Indianapolis for ten years, and is a proactive spokesperson for Planned Parenthood as well as a board member for the Spirit and Place festival. Currently she is serving as the chair of Indianapolis deputation to Episcopal Church General Convention this summer. Nancy is an avid reader, needlepointer, and gardener, and is a grandmother of 14. She has been married to Bob for 50 years.

The Rev. Karen L. King, Associate Rector for Mission and Outreach
Karen is responsible for Trinity's outreach ministries to the community, especially the Grants Ministry and the Volunteer Ministry. Before coming to Trinity Karen served as the Executive Director of a social services agency for more than 12 years. She earned a bachelor's degree from Knoxville College, Knoxville, TN., and a master's degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Later she earned a master of divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. Karen has two sons, David and Samuel.

Mr. Kevin DePrey, Parish Administrator
Kevin oversees all the business affairs of the parish--financial, facilities, support personnel, and office procedures. He has extensive experience as an administrator of religious institutions, having been director of the Fatima Retreat House of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis for 16 years and having served in two Catholic parishes prior to that. Kevin holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Purdue University and a master's in pastoral ministry from Boston College. Kevin and his wife Emily Wren have been married for 31 years.

Dr. Michael Messina, Director of Music
Michael is responsible for the Choir Program, involving both adults and children, the Music at Trinity series, and is organist for St. Richard's School. He has been Director of Music at Trinity since 1995. He holds the DMA and MMus degrees and the Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music and the BMus in Church Music magna cum laude from St. Olaf College. Michael was elected Vice-President of the Association of Anglican Musicians in June 2006. He is often seen at Trinity with famed Shih-Tzu companion, Norbu.

Stephanie St John, Director of Children's Ministries

Stephanie directs Trinity's children's ministries programs as well as our all-parish events. Stephanie received a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Charleston. She attended Xavier University to pursue a Master's in Education and Montessori teaching certificate. Stephanie taught at a Children's Habitat Montessori School for six years, and received Godly Play accreditation in 2002.  She is the mother of Braden and Abigail St John. As a family, they have attended Trinity since 2001.

Missy Roetter, Youth Coordinator
Missy coordinates the Journey to Adulthood youth program, and has been certified by Journey to Adulthood's Leader Resources program. She has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Louisville, and before working at Trinity she worked 15 years in the retail industry. Along with her husband Fred, she has been a member of Trinity since 1988. The Roetters have two children, Lizzie and Nelson.

Virginia Rogers, Director of Communications

Virginia oversees all communications at Trinity, including the newsletter, service leaflets, and this web site. She completed a bachelor degree in design from University of California, Davis, in the early '80s and has taken continuing education courses along the way at Rhode Island School of Design and Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles. Virginia comes to Trinity with some 20 years of communications experience primarily in health care. Daughters Rebecca and Hilary and granddaughter Wallace all reside on the West Coast while she and husband David spend as much of their free time as possible working in the garden at their Homecroft bungalow.

Grace Burton-Edwards, St. Richard's School Chaplain
Grace's emphasis at St. Richard's School is on teaching divinity classes for the Middle School students, as well as participating as a chapel leader. An American Baptist by upbringing, she was recently ordained as an Episcopalian deacon. Grace holds a BA in English from Mississippi College, a Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Congregational Development at the Seabury Institute of Seabury-Western. She is married to Rev. Taylor Burton-Edwards, and their children are Jacob, age 13, and Will, age 9.

Juan Mesa, Assistant Organist
Juan began organ studies in his native city of Puerto Montt, Chile. Upon graduation from high school, he studied piano with Ximena Cabello at the Conservatory of Music in Valdivia. In 2005, he graduated from Western Connecticut State University. He won first prize in both the 2003 George Markey Scholarship competition in New Jersey and the RCYO Competition organized by the American Guild of Organists. He has performed in recitals in Chile and Argentina, as well as in Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in organ at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
