FAQs about pledging
Why should I pledge?
"Give as God has blessed you!" All faith communities ask people to give in one way or another. In our tradition we believe that the pledge is a faith commitment... a tangible way to translate our beliefs into action
In making a pledge, we make a promise; the congregation and those we serve beyond our selves count on that promise. Thus pledge income determines how the vestry plans and implements the annual operating budget.
How much should I pledge?
We encourage proportional giving in the form of annual pledging, which supports the whole ministry of Trinity Church. Proportional giving is a two-step process:
- Take inventory of all your blessings, including financial. The exercise is worth the effort if only for the spirit of gratitude it can awaken in you. It can also sharpen your awareness of what you have and how best to use and give what you have.
- Give back to God a prayerfully considered proportion of your blessings as a material expression of your gratitude. A pledge to Trinity Church, made in advance of each calendar year equips us to do God’s work together and enables us to plan—to set ministry goals for that year.
When should I pledge?
A pledge can be made at anytime during the year, but for the purpose of planning, November and December (now!) are best.
