Children's Activities
Children’s Sabbath Special activities in Sunday school during this annual fall observance remind us of the needs of children throughout the world.
Advent We make wreaths and decorations to prepare our hearts and homes for Christ.
St. Lucia Day A Swedish Advent tradition recalling a saint who revealed the light of Christ.
St. Nicholas Shoppe This re-gifting opportunity allows young children to purchase gently used gifts for loved ones with proceeds benefiting a service project selected by the children.
Christmas Eve Special service at 3 pm for young children and a children’s liturgy during the 5 pm service.
Lenten preparation Crafts and prayer activities prepare our hearts for this holy season.
Holy Week We gather after the 10:15 service on Palm Sunday for activities recalling the events of Holy Week. A special children’s liturgy on Maundy Thursday invites children into the story of the washing of the disciples’ feet and the last supper.
Easter Sunday Children join their families for festival worship followed by an Easter egg roll.
Cross of Flowers An old Trinity Church tradition, on Rogation Sunday (usually the fifth Sunday after Easter) we celebrate creation and the gifts of the earth. Children create a cross of flowers at the start of the 10:15 service.
Baptism preparation If you have an older child or an older sibling of a baby being baptized, we have a special presentation including the Godly Play baptism story and a child-friendly tour of the church. Contact a member of the clergy to schedule baptism and to schedule baptism preparation.
Communion education In the Episcopal Church all baptized children may receive communion, regardless of age. However, we offer communion education throughout the year to help first graders and up explore the meaning of the sacrament. Contact the director of children’s ministries to learn about the next opportunity.
Outreach
Throughout the year, children are invited to give of their time and treasure. Sunday school classes and seasonal events connect them to outreach opportunities such as Christmas giving, gift-making for homebound parishioners, and Lent and Easter outreach projects.
When Sunday school is in session, the children’s offering is brought forward with the other gifts of the parish at communion.
